For this project, I took my band name (Map of Omelettes) and took it as literally as possible. I decided to research different omelette varieties to use to build my world (as in literally take the omelette varieties and textures and use them for the geography, such as using spanish omelettes as cliff faces and omurice as volcanoes). I have explained the main ones I researched below.
Crespéou
Crespéou is a French dish made from layers of omelettes that can be eaten cold. The omelette layers have different vegetables and herbs mixed in to create a variety of colours, and the omelettes are stacked so the colours alternate.
Spanish Omelettes
Spanish omelettes (also known as tortilla espanola) are a form of omelettes that use potatoes in layers to form the omelette. They resemble quiche or potato pie in appearance, and is usually served at room temperature as a tapa.
Omurice
Omurice is a Japanese omelette variety that is fried rice and other vegetables surrounded by a layer of scrambled eggs and served with ketchup or other condiments on top.
Frittata
Frittata is an italian dish that is like a quiche but crustless. It often has meats, vegetables and cheeses added to the dish for flavour and texture.
Band Research
I also researched folk bands, with a focus of my research being The Crane Wives.
The Crane Wives is a folk band that became popular during the 2010's and is well known for their songs Curses, Tongues and Teeth and Never Love an Anchor along with others. I personally enjoy the song's vocals and beat, as it appeals to me. The artwork of the albums is also really appealing to me, and a big draw to the albums due to how handrawn and textured the artwork is, instead of it going in a more graphic style.
